MERANER HÖHENWEG
The Alta Via di Merano Trail (Meraner Höhenweg), one of the most beautiful hiking loops in South Tyrol, runs for 100 kilometres along the Texelgruppe Nature Park, around the Texel Mountains. The Alta Via di Merano Trail opened in 1985. It consists mainly of historical footpaths that local farmers had been using from time immemorial. Pioneers from the South Tyrol Alpine Association joined these steep, ancient paths in order to create the modern trail.
Numerous Alpine lodges and taverns along the way provide a welcome opportunity for hikers to take a break. Whether you plan to hike the entire loop or just do a leg, the trail offers good options for hikers of all skill levels: the coexistence of leisurely sections of trail without much of a grade together with steep Alpine sections leaves a lot of room for a custom-tailored excursion.
VINSCHGER RAILWAY
The colourfully painted trains of the Venosta (Vinschgau) Railway Line connect the Venosta Valley with the cities of Merano (Meran) and Bolzano (Bozen). Locals and tourists alike use these modern and well-equipped passenger trains, which depart at regular intervals, to reach their destination station.
The historical and carefully restored train stations along the route are equipped with ticket-vending machines and waiting rooms, and ensure a comfortable trip along the railway line. Special offers and reliable service are further enticement to a train ride along the Adige. The Bikemobil Card is new: this combination ticket includes use of the Venosta Railway Line, buses, and a bicycle rental. Find out more—and take advantage of our wide array of offers.
